Good Evening

Info

  • Check your email, the website or the forums for the latest info about all the trips and socials (and polo).
  • Thursday Pool Sessions are held at the union pool at 7pm. Come and learn how to canoe in a warm and friendly atmosphere. There’s plenty of people who will be more than happy to help you learn - from how to get into a boat to the gnarliest tricks!
  • Socials are after Thursday pool sessions and are always a good laugh (though you may feel the repercussions on the Friday morning).
  • Friday Pool Sessions are again held at the union pool but a little later at 9pm. For the first few weeks these are mainly beginner sessions. These will turn into canoe polo sessions later in the term, an enjoyable yet aggressive team game. All beginners are welcome.
  • River Trips tend to leave the Union at 9am and 9.30 am from Hiatt Baker. Times vary due to the previous nights drinking escapades (don’t be surprised to find most of the committee asleep in the bus!). To sign up for a trip, come to the pool on Thursday. You must pay in advance, so if you turn up with money you are more likely to go on the list.
  • North Wales, Scotland and the Alps - club trips to exotic (?!) locations such as these are always great fun. Don’t forget your grass skirt and bikini.
  • Kit to bring to the pool: Swimming costume and towel. If you’re learning to roll, goggles and nose clips can also be quite handy.
  • Kit to Bring to river trips: To start off with bring a tracksuit, jumper and old trainers. Please bring a change of clothes, as hypothermia is only funny for a little while!
  • Kit we Have: We have canoes, paddles, spray decks, helmets, and buoyancy aids. We also have waterproof/windproof cags and wetsuits but if you have any kit of your own, feel free to bring it along.
